Darwill Adds B&H Mailstar 500
The Bell & Howell Mailstar 500 is a fully intelligent inserting machine. The accumulator folder can read a bar code of various types on the first page that indicates how many pages to accumulate and fold. The folder can fold up to six 8.5 x 11 sheets to 6 x 10 or #10.
The machine has cameras on two inserting pockets so that personalized inserts can be matched to the letter. The barcode on the letter can also be used to selectively insert; meaning based on the bar code on the letter one of or all of six different inserts can be put in the letter pack. Also, based on the barcode read from the inserts or the letter the inserter can inkjet image the matching address on the outer envelope. The inserter also stamps or meters (based on weight). All this is done at speeds of up to 10,000 letters per hour.
