History

A Specialist in Communications Solutions for 60+ Years

It all began in 1951 with shoe signs in Chicago. P VanDyke 1951When William Van Dyke Sr. founded Darwill (named for a combination of his son’s name—William—and daughter’s name—Darlene), our primary business was imprinting signs for Florsheim Shoes. Ever since, we’ve been a specialist in print communications.

In 1980, William Jr. (Billy) took over the reins. He grew the company, moving it to Chicago’s western suburbs—first to Oak Brook and then to our current location in Hillside. Sharing his father’s drive for excellence, Bill added equipment and services, further solidifying our foundation of customer service: P Van Dyke 1980delivering products with integrity, quality, and efficiency.

Bill Jr. passed away in 1993, and his wife Janice became CEO. Under Janice’s leadership, the company doubled in size (despite the struggling print industry) by staying ahead of the trends in direct marketing. We have developed new offerings that leverage technology and the Internet, streamlined our manufacturing processes to create more value, and increased our resources to ensure high-quality customer service.

Today, Bill’s sons Troy and Brandon are Co-CEO’s of a Troy VanDyke and Brandon VanDykethriving Direct Marketing and Communications company that has carved out a national reputation for the production of custom, complex marketing communications. When you partner with Darwill, you’ll become part of our long history of delivering complex, data-driven, integrated communications solutions.
